How to live for 300 years without depending on anyone but only praying to god ? Isn't god said:

β€œTherefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

28 β€œAnd why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe youβ€”you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, β€˜What shall we eat?’ or β€˜What shall we drink?’ or β€˜What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Why would we have to live like a slave and work hard for living a meaningless life ?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 7 hours ago

Are you quoting the life of Brian?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Because we've been ~~lead to believe~~ brainwashed to believe that consumerism solves everything.

Advertising, influencers, and what we've declared the meaning of "success" to mean all tell us that we must own and collect and covet in order to feel whole.

We've attributed less value to those who choose to give and educate and heal over those who hoard and enslave and control.

Because we've lost sight of the value of community and instead use consumerism as a way to relate to one another. Because there are powerful forces creating narratives to divide us and despise one another.

Humans struggle to survive without socializing. When you're no longer able or have the opportunity to trust and respect your neighbor, you seek other opportunities to relate and communicate with others.

We've leaned on isolationism and the internet to create communities. These communities or tribes aren't built on hyper-localism or the common experiences gained over time and environment but on ideas, passions, and hobbies. They may fulfill a portion of our human desires but they aren't whole.

We struggle more to belong to something these days. Sometimes we join religions or cults. Sometimes we use social media and post on forums. Sometimes we collect things or we do our hair or makeup or dress a certain way. We want to belong with others.

We want to find community where we no longer have it.

What has God done for you lately?

God provided me food and others clothes to wear (given by someone that they used or not fit for them). My mom always says that god feeds us in our poverty. If we pray to god he will give anything we want. Then she force me to go to college and get a degree certificate and say surviving in this world without a job is impossible.

This isn't a real question. Seems you're trying to spread religious jargon

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

They are either mocking the Bible and trying to point out that many sections are obvious bullshit, which is a topic done to death centuries ago, or genuinely seeking help in a tough situation and don't know an appropriate place to turn to.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Why i have to spread it ? Isn't already everyone affected. And i am sick of it and the reality of life. That's it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds like you're going through an existential crisis. Those happen from time-to-time during life. The best advice i can offer you is stop looking to a book to give you the answers in life. A book doesn't care about you as much as you should care about yourself

[–] [email protected] -1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I can care about my life but nothing gonna change than i become a mental. So believing in god and following bible is much better in this useless life i think.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

And why do you think that?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

The point of the passage isn't that you don't need food or clothes to live. The point is that worrying about the future is a distraction from the present, and that focusing on your temporal needs is a distraction from spiritual health. It's a message about the pointlessness of selfishness and greed.

Also, elsewhere it's stated that the span of a man's life is much shorter than 300 years. After a certain time, the prostate puffs up and kills us. So trying to live to 300 is a futile distraction anyway.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Your focus on life span is centered on the prostate? Right

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 hours ago

For men. Women can theoretically (theologically?) live forever.

[–] [email protected] -4 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

But in bible they were many peoples lived more than 200 years by praising and following god. Before jesus christ were born.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

But in reality, there's no actual evidence of that, or that it was/is ever even possible.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

In bible it states that many individuals lived a long life.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

The Bible is not a very solid primary source document.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 hours ago

Before God limited the span of a man's life (headcannon: via the prostate).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Why would you even want to live such a long life? If you believe in an eternal life after death in heaven or hell, wouldn't you hope to die soon, as long as you don't live a sinful life (which includes not dying on purpose)? So that you can stop working in this hard life and finally enjoy paradise?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

Because i am wondered that how some individuals lived so long by puttibg faith on god and why don't i deserve it.

When did this world started to become so much corrupt and why didn't god prevented that corruption at its root ?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Still waiting for the question.

Consider cleaning up your own religion before proselytizing others.

Here let me give you some helpful tips:

  • Your churches should be converted into free housing for all. No you don't get to use their desperation as a excuse to smash them over the head with your holy book.

  • The money tithed to the church should be offered as interest free financing of worker owned and operated cooperatives

  • crucify mega church/prosperity gospel leadership. In the literal sense.

  • keep your religion out of politics. Challenge level: impossible

There ya go. That should keep yall busy for the next 1000 years.

Are you ok, op? Your post sounds very weird.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 hours ago

"Doctor, I'm afraid of individually spelled out letters."

"Why?"

Patient screams.

"Are you okay?"

Patient screams even louder.

"Oh, I see."

Patient runs out of the room.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 hours ago (4 children)

Am just confused and feeling down. Lost hope. Feeling like a slave and how good i behave to others, they will always treat me shi*. Am not done anything sinful then why the suffering and when will god arrive to save me!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 hours ago

Maybe try sinning then?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

It's god testing you. And you have failed. Repeatedly.

"Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you."

Life can be tough and it's OK to seek hope but this corner of the internet is mostly atheists so you can't appeal to faith here. Even Christians agree that God does not interact with people as directly as 2000+ years ago so you cannot rely on literal signs from Them. If you want to apply quotes from the Bible in your life (I would personally advise against that), speak to a member of your preferred church or an explicitly Christian community online.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Why would you personally advise against that ? When it comes to asking a member about this i am too confused to ask whom ? Everyone is manipulated and only thinking and standing in their own church beliefs. From my previous experience i saw a urge from them to join me in their church instead a honest answer. If the anawer is too cimplex then they will make fun of me. For now, i am staying away from church's but somewhat reading bibles written by them. Atlast everything is complex and hard to stay in believe. Without belief i can't live tho...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

If you don't want to trust people in churches near you, you can try to slowly gather all the answers you want on your own from the internet. But be careful with this!
For one, there are many more possibilities to get the wrong answers online than in local communities. So it can easily happen to fall in deep rabbit holes of stuff that won't benefit you.
And, it can be really overwhelming to sort out information about such topics online. So please, take things slowly. I don't think that your god expects you to be perfectly informed in a matter of days, weeks or even months.

If you are able to slowly explore the answers to whatever questions you might have, you will most likely find everything you need.
Just by watching YouTube videos alone, one could spend thousands upon thousands of hours educating oneself about all this stuff. But again, be careful with that. Take small steps.

Regarding your original question, Nemo has already given you a good answer. I want to add that if you believe in heaven and hell, why would you care if you efforts are rewarded in this life? Wouldn't you try to "be as good as you can", no matter how others react to that? Would your god not reward you after your death accordingly and punish those who treated you unfairly, if they truly deserve punishment? So why even care? If you believe in a god that eventually brings justice to everyone, just try to be as good of a person as you can be. Whatever this exactly means for you.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

The answer is fear... as long as i become a good person others are trying to control me and treat me like a slave. This leads me to fear about facing the next day. Also how can i be excited and energetic when i know that tomorrow is going to be a shit like today.

As you said i consumed alot like youtube videos that give insights about god, but at the end they poat something like what god predicted about election, this is what god said about the future of india, god and aliens are relatives,etc... this like shi* videos broke all my confidence that am consuming the correct content in one second.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

Oh, ok, I get what you are saying.
Well, unfortunately those are problems of a caliber that I wouldn't be able to solve for you. Nor do I think that anybody else here can.

A (somewhat vague) answer for your first point might be that you need to change your perspective. But that is easier said than done and I don't want to pretend that I know how shitty your live might actually is.

For your second point, it is at least very good that you were able to recognize bad content on your own. Many people fail that.
You could try to find drastically different videos from different groups of people. Again, I know this is easier said than done.

I think most people on Lemmy are strictly against religion, so I don't think you will find much help in that regard here.
Maybe as a starting point, you could try to find resources from a totally different group of people. Depending on your exact questions you might want to watch videos about what people of other religions might have to say about that.
Like, if you want to know more about something from the old testament you could try to watch videos from jews, or if you have questions about Jesus you could look up what the muslims have to say about that.

I wish you all the best! Try to endure until you know, what it is you can strive for.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 hours ago

Sounds like you should either actually read your own bible (job) or chill out a lot.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Interesting, still why did you choose the number 300 exactly ?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Because i think i have to specify a number to indicate the age i mean. For you may i edit it to 300 - 900 ?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

Edit 10 000 years please, it would seem more coherent.
