Too young for how old the game is?

Well, I’m 37, so maybe not too-too young. Maybe i just wasn’t familiar with the d&d ruleset it was based on?

Oh yeah. If it was based on 2.5 then that alone is gonna have you scratching your head. Gygax needed to be told to chill with the math nerd shit in that edition, but wasn't.

I have the same question, I was a teenager when it came out and I found it a bit confusing. There seems to be a lot of different campaigns.

It felt that the combat was immediately too difficult and then I got to a boss that wrecked me. So, I gave up.

Neverwinter Nights is more of a d&d tool for DM & parties with custom campaigns to enjoy online instead of irl.

The included campaign is a bit of an after-thought (a bit basic, but complete, I still like it).

The expansion campaigns, especially hordes of the underdark were much higher quality.

Samesies. I think it didn't help that I played the sequel first. It's just really damned dated. Some older games age really well, but NWN did not.

Never played the original single player NWN, is it 2.5 or 3rd edition? I did play the MMO NWN on AOL. That one was 2.5 edition with the tile and grid system that previous TSR single player titles had used in the late '80s/ early '90s

The single-player NWN used 3rd edition. I played a lot of NWN2, which was based on 3.5.

Yeah, I remembered that NWN 2 was either 3.0 or 3.5. I really tried to design a campaign in that version, but just kept getting stuck/ losing my files.

I can't help comparing it (unfavourably) to baldurs gate 1. The story just didn't hook me the same way.

The base game's campaign was meh, kinda repetitive. The expansions -- and player-made adventures -- improved on it a lot.

Had it on my xbox one one, I had fun

I never could get this game to work. I had a physical copy that I bought and tried to install on 3 separate systems and none of them could run it. And not for lack of hardware, I was well over spec on one PC. IDK why this game was so difficult to get running.

Edit- lol at the downvotes. I really just don't get this site anymore.

Circa 2000 was a weird era for games deciding they just didn't wanna.

Bought 2 copies on console. Game doesn't actually work on console. Bought 2 on steam. Game doesn't actually run on steam. (Or Linux?)

Come on, it's a D&D game with broken AI party members that you need to micromanage every single frame. I just wanted to try it with a friend.

Cool looking scam though.

Runs fine for me: Steam on Linux.

And yes the AI is not terrificly bright, nor are many other mechanics state of the art these days, but I find it a fun game. Might reinstall and play through again. Now, if only stealth archer were a viable build...
