The term 'NEET' was created by the British government surprisingly enough and was later adopted by 4Chan. As I said in the post NEET stands for "Not (in) Employment, Education or Training". NEET to me was a subculture and a lifestyle. I don't have anything else going for me and there wasn't any opportunities anyway so it just made sense to become a NEET. I didn't have any motivation for a long time but recently I have given all of my attention to this guy I'm in love with so I can be a better partner. I got a job to make some money and I'm going to the gym to make myself look sexier for him. A big part of motivation is having someone to work for and until him I didn't have that. He's the only thing in my worth working for.
Congrats on turning things around! It sounds like you're putting a lot of effort into this, he must be a really great guy.
Thanks, he really is
What did you do with your time those four years?
A lot of browsing the internet, sites like 4chan, Reddit, Discord, Instagram, DeviantArt, Newgrounds, Fandom, MAL, TikTok, StarBound Forums and KiwiFarms. Playing games such as Halo, GTA, Minecraft, StarBound, Civilization, Doom. I did a lot of weed, hanging out with friends, couch surfing, lean, night clubs, odd jobs, psychedelics like magic mushrooms and LSD, sleeping at hotels, going to bars, sex, seeing family, went on holiday to Hawaii once, cocaine, listening to music, making YouTube videos and I tried programming at one point.
How did you keep yourself together?
What do you mean by that?
Like mentally? Being NEET is exhausting socially in a way
Smoking weed and watching movies made me feel great although it's not a permanent solution. I have amazing friends and brothers/sisters who where always there for me.
What did you do for income for all of that?
As I already said I did odd jobs sometimes and I'm well connected
What does well connected mean here?
I know where to get things, how to get things and I've got associates of associates
Sounds like you’re living in a fantasy world.
Sounds like drug dealer to me
Why?
That's actually how the world really operates and how you can be successful. It's hard to understand for introverted folk like me.
What programming languages u try?
Python
Would you do anything differently?
Yeah, do less drugs, get a schedule, more time with my friends and family. I'm turning my life around, I'm spending a lot of time leaving the NEET lifestyle so I can be a better girlfriend to my future boyfriend.
I'm confused, I thought you had a present boyfriend already.
I had a crush on him for a year now and we've been dating for the last four weeks. Nothing is official yet but I like to think he's my BF❤️
Good on you! If hes initiating dates 100% means he is in it.
I know, He's such a sweetheart.
I'm curious, what makes you say the less drugs part?
Well, no one's going to argue that doing drugs is a good thing
Was your NEET period connected to your narcisistic and histrionic disorders that you talk about in other AMAs?
I don't know what you mean. Personality disorders aren't like phases you go through after a little while. There permanent lifelong conditions you have regardless of your circumstance
They influence your life, both personal and professional. They can get more prominent, if not treated, or diminish. You seem to have found help - both meds and therapy can help with disorders, so even though they don't disappear, their influence can lessen.
Therefore I was wondering whether the recent changes in your life could be connected to changes in your mental health.
I don't really know. To make that judgment I would need to know a different timeline where I didn't have these disorders
