Where am i to find all the CSAM pictures without shitposts on lemmy.world 😞

/s Obviously for you jerks i hate saying '/s' like some dirty redditor

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Reddit does not own human communication. Do not give it such power

/s is a really useful tool to convey non seriousness in a textual conversation. Reddit did not invent it. The people that realized there was a gap in understanding and starting to textualize sarcastic tone did.

Just like emoticons and memes where embraced by internet culture before. The human condition earns to expressive itself in new and more nuanced ways.

In other terms: Language is open source.

I agree and let me add one more reason.

I don't claim to represent all dumb people on the internet but being dumb myself, sometimes I need a clear indication that something is sarcastic, otherwise I just don't get it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

You don’t need to be dumb to struggle with this sort of thing.

  • the entire autistic community

You sound decently smart to me, being aware or you own flaws and such. The majority of people overestimates there own intelligence and abilities.

The California Society of Addiction Medicine? Maybe try their website: https://csam-asam.org/

(God, they chose a bad name for themselves)

/s isnt really good, it allows people to see someone isnt saying something seriously, but it makes any joke completely unfunny

two batmans kissing

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

And no one made a clone on another instance yet? πŸ€”

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't get it. What happened now?

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (3 children)

Some shit head(s) were spamming CSAM images

Edit: wow, some homophobic Nazi shitheads were posting CSAM, birds of a feather I suppose...

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Specifically they were posting it in retaliation for the community not tolerating or platforming their anti-lgbt nazi "shitposts"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Could you clarify who was posting? Shitpost wasn't tolerating Nazis?

I guess I can see how that would go poorly for a meme community. That's where they like to congregate.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You got it rights. Shitpost was supposed to be the "anything goes" meme community, and a bunch of yahoots took that as "Oh we can post lgbtq hate memes here". The shitpost community members didn't have any of it though. Most all the nazi shit got reported and the troll alts banned, but its a constant game of whackamole.

Really the problem was shitpost had a very small mod team all clustered on the same time zone. The nasty stuff would stay up too long.

Shitpost was supposed to be the "anything goes" meme community, and a bunch of yahoots took that as "Oh we can post lgbtq hate memes here".

"Anything goes" is such a terrible idea in the modern internet, you're always going to get checked for trying it lol.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Oh for sure. They did still have rules against nsfw and hate speech ofc, as well as the instancewide rules that had to be followed, but mods can only do so much.

"Anything Goes" was supposed to be memes of any quality/type/reference lol

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago

Homophobic Nazi shitheads posting CSAM? I'm shocked! Shocked! Well, not that shocked.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thanks but which instance or community was it? Is this the same one that shut down two days ago or something? I'm confused

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

It was Lemmy Shitpost community on lemmy.world

what song genre is this? i wanna try exploring more of it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It's hard to say specifically but synth-pop is the best thing I can find. For something similar you could look to Purity Ring and some of Grimes's work. There's also things like Avalanches and I monster which I believe would be called Trip Hop.

Here is an alternative Piped link(s): https://piped.video/qeu4RugfDw4?si=1lCZlMKVjTJVoiH8

Piped is a privacy-respecting open-source alternative frontend to YouTube.

I'm open-source, check me out at GitHub.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wait, what happened? Defederation?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Malicious actors spamming the community with actual CSAM.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I had to google CSAM; hope I'm not on a list now

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Real sadness

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Hopefully we'll get it back once this nonsense gets resolved. Was it the most popular .World community? Are there any similar ones that might substitute?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I think some instance owners having been talking to the team behind Lemmy about implementing some sort of detection system. Not sure how long that will take though considering all the feature requests they must be getting

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (2 children)

db0 (Mod from my instance) created a tool to scan and remove CSAM related content. Sounded pretty neat.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Could you link it? I have plans to host a lemmy instance, it could be helpful.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah that's what I was referencing but I wasn't sure if they were the only player in that

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'd be surprised if there wasn't already something off the shelf they could use. Yahoo released their porn detector decades ago, and with AI being as prevalent as it is, I'd think that wouldn't be too hard to implement. Maybe difficult to implement well though...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Right? All of these big companies have to be using something. There's no way that it's just hordes of traumatized moderators.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

What's stopping us from building another? Why aren't there several across the fediverse? Having one de facto just makes it vulnerable to the whims of trolls or a renegade mod.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Under normal circumstances that would make sense, however that is just sidestepping a major problem that needs to resolved. They could just post CSAM to wherever becomes popular.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

You're 100% right. We shouldn't have all our eggs in one basket.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

What happened to it??

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I was wondering where that community went.
