Just after some advice... So I recently upgraded to a 4k monitor & my trusty old 3070 struggles in certain situations. Would you all upgrade for a 4070ti super now, or wait it out to see what the 5070 offers? I kind of need it now if I'm to enjoy my monitor in it's full glory, but I can wait it out if it won't be too long, but I guess we still don't know when the 50xx will be released.

Wait at this point, and check out what AMD puts out. It's sometimes a good value. If the 5070 has 12GB of VRAM and the same price AMD model has more, it could be more relevant for 4K gaming

Just wait if you're on 3070

I think the 70 model is best to upgrade every once in a while. I went from a 1070Ti/1080p to 1070Ti/1440p. Then it started struggling, so now I'm on 4070/1440p. If you'd have a xx60 you'd be upgrading every gen.

That said, rumour has it that the 50xx's won't be a big improvement over 40xx. Most likely what comes after 50xx will be a big one.

So depends on what you play but the 40 series does all the DLSS fancies the 50 will probably. So 4070ti super for my money would be fine, 4080 super might be nice if you can get it.

I have the same card. If those are your options, wait for the 5 series, but I would have a look at AMD as well.

I'm waiting at this point to upgrade my 2070 Super.

I'm not excited about the potential price difference though

Which cpu are you running with your 2070S? Do you plan to upgrade it with the GPU? I've got a 12700, hoping it won't bottleneck whatever gpu I buy next. Otherwise it's either an upgrade to a 14700 or a total rebuild to a ddr5 based system.

Ryzen 7 3700X, but I'll make the jump to a Ryzen 9 9950x anyway (I've been Intel free for 20 years ) so it's a new MOBO and ddr5 for me anyway.

I would not plan to buy any specific GPU expected to be released in the future. If your 3070 is struggling now, now is probably the time to upgrade. But if you want to wait until better price/performance options are available, you probably dont have to wait for 5070 series. Radeon 8000-series will probably launch this year, and even if Radeon 8000 isnt quite your cup of tea, it's likely to trigger price drops for GPUs like the 4070 Ti Super.

The 50 series could have GDDR7, AMD will not. For your 4K scrreen buy the most expensive 5000 model GPU that you can afford.
