Conservative cancel culture is getting out of hand.

[–] [email protected] 37 points 2 months ago (2 children)

If you have any ideas as to how to curtail it I'm all ears.

That's good news cuz the Republicans are down an ear

What kind of cheese do you prefer for smash burgers?

I love cheddar for the lacy edges and provolone for the melt.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Nah man. Deli-style American. It’s what Culver’s and Steak ‘n Shake use for a reason. Melts beautifully but doesn’t string.

Deli style American is amazing with a slice of good cheese in a grilled cheese.

You get the flavor and the melt.

But I stand by cheddar or provolone for a smash burger.

Can't go wrong with a slice of pepper jack either. Then again, I'll eat pepper jack cheese on just about anything.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Yeah if you melt that on a shoe I’d eat the shoe for sure.

When hasn't it? See freedom fries and the Dixie chicks

Republicans joked about Nancy Pelosi's attempted Assassination and no one cared but also Republicans are NOT SNOWFLAKES!

[–] [email protected] 48 points 2 months ago

And they DEFINITELY don’t engage in cancel culture over jokes!

[–] [email protected] 55 points 2 months ago

Seems like cancel culture to me...

[–] [email protected] 55 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Two things:

  1. If you get fired for standing up for what you believe in, then it is probably a blessing in disguise.

  2. Don't use your real information when making controversial comments online if you're not comfortable risking your job.

Yeah I feel that second point. Can't afford to have my medical license revoked because of cancel culture, so I have to be careful about what I say around here.

DoctorButts seems very PROCtical.

It’s just Assy McGee in a new costume.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 months ago

That’s cute. How many people has Chaya the stocahstic terrorist killed again.

This is just a taste of what we have to look forward to with four+ more years of Trump. When you let snowflakes run things, they will inevitably do whatever they can to shut down any sort of ridicule about themselves. "Cancel culture" is just them projecting again, they will do the exact same thing they accuse the other side of and amp it up to 11 over seemingly innocent comments. Saying things like "Trump is a jackass" or "Trump is a big fat orange turd" will eventually become offenses. It'll start with late night TV, various shows will get shut down, the things that Trump himself will see. The guard rails are off, so Trump can just order companies to shut down shows he doesn't like.

Remember, Trump spends half his "workdays" JUST watching TV, so him going after programming could be construed as an "official act". After some of the big ones are taken out, Colbert and others, this zero tolerance for ridicule will filter into the rest of the culture. This is how dictators operate, they can't stand being attacked or ridiculed, everyone else has to take them as seriously as they take themselves. Unfortunately, I likely won't be able to say, "Told you so" because internet speech will likely become filtered as it is in China. That's what we'll get if Trump is elected and that some people are ok with that is absolutely mind-boggling, whether you're a Republican or Democrat or Libertarian or whatever, that kind of American society should not be acceptable, but that's what we're moving towards.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

They're okay with it because they can't imagine this actually happening. Free speech is so baked in, many can't imagine not having it.

Tolerance of Intolerance begets intolerance.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 months ago

What, sensitive little snowflakes can’t stand some jokes? He didn’t die so it’s fair game. I guess they have a hard time hearing things like that because of those solidarity patches over their ears.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

My boss was joking about it too, so 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

I'm jealous

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

They gonna call my boss and give her an ear full?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

How does libs of tik Tok make money? Assuming it's not just Republican donors funding her, we should make sure her source of income knows how she spreads hate.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander I suppose. I wish we didn't ruin people's livelihoods for bad/unpopular opinions in the first place, but we seem have agreed as a culture that that's what we do now, so ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
