Is the city council under the impression that tourists will arrive, fail to find a tour guide, then just shrug and go home? I agree that tourist congestion has gotten worse in recent years (a friend of mine recently moved, citing this exact reason), but this is going to do exactly nothing to stop it.

Is it to prevent? Or just bring more tourism money to the town?

I think it’s more so profiting off the popularity of the tour guides. And maybe the could hire an extra PT staff to process all the applications

~~Even if it doesn't stop tourists from coming, it will bring in more revenue for the local authorities and inhabitants.~~

Just read the whole story the cost goes to the local guides, not the tourists.

It’s like this every year- absolutely packed with muggles!

incredibly misleading title. The fees for the annual license to be a tour guide went from $10 to $350. This will not cause a 3500% increase on the price of guided tours, as I'm sure a tour guide can make $350 in a tour or two.

They killed fewer witches in Hartford, Connecticut, but you probably will pay less for the "we only murdered one woman for witchcraft here" tour.

Only one trial in Philadelphia, and thanks to Billy Penn she was acquitted. Shame, could have had all those tourist dollars; the bell ain’t cutting it!
