The Spanish government has a plan to prevent kids from watching porn online: Meet the porn passport.

Officially (and drily) called the Digital Wallet Beta (Cartera Digital Beta), the app Madrid unveiled on Monday would allow internet platforms to check whether a prospective smut-watcher is over 18. Porn-viewers will be asked to use the app to verify their age. Once verified, they'll receive 30 generated “porn credits” with a one-month validity granting them access to adult content. Enthusiasts will be able to request extra credits.

This is wild. Not only mandatory validation, but some sort of credit system to monitor how much porn a person is watching?

I guess they're gonna provide a government service that recommends porn based on your watching habits. There's no other sane reason.

I like how when it comes to stupid shit, never fear, government is on the case. When it comes to anything that would actually improve folks' quality of life, though, they're helpless babies.

I know not all governments, but the American govt is most of what I have to go off of.

The spanish government said last year that they were gonna decrease the weekly work hours from 40 to 38.5 in 2024, 37.5 in 2025.

It's July and I'm still working 40 hours.

But they can establish a porn surveillance system in a few months.

What the fuck are these priorities.

And this is where a generation of future Spanish hackers will first cut their teeth as digital outlaws. Never underestimate the lengths a pubescent boy will go through to see sum tiddy.

Sounds like something the far right would encourage. If it is only in Madrid, well, you should know about Isabel Diaz Ayuso.

Couldn't be more wrong.

It is not only in Madrid. When they say "Madrid unveils" it's because Madrid is Spain's capital so the government is there, it's the same as "Spain's government unveils".

It also isn't a far right thing, but a push by the left (the current government of Spain is lead by PSOE, Spain's socialist party). Their reasoning is that porn is unhealthy for the kids and it teaches them that women are submissive or whatever.

I guess that gay porn won't consume credits then because there is no women involved.

It's just straight up bullshit.

I agree that porn is not good for the brain. And i tends to portray women as submissive. Still, i do not believe it is necesary to ban it outright in this way. What a weird legislation.
