New instance: issues subscribing to beehaw communities (doomscroll.n8e.dev)

I've just set up a new personal instance (this account is on it) but I'm apparently not able to subscribe to beehaw communities. When I click the subscribe button all I get is "Subscription Pending" no matter how much I refresh the page.

Additionally, unlike communities on other servers the search for a beehaw one doesn't appear to bring down any posts. Is that normal?

It's a pretty common bug for it to say Subscribe Pending. I think you'll find that the longer your instance is online the more success you'll have.

The workaround seems to be unsubscribing, giving it a few seconds, and clicking subscribe again. That can sometimes jog things into working.

Mmm. The issue in this case is that it appears it's only beehaw communities that do it. Everything else is working fine.

I've unsubbed/subbed quite a few times now. No change :(

Beehaw is still running 0.18.4 so that might have something to do with it. I'd just wait and try again later.

Beehaw is defederated with some other large instances but they should be wide open to your instance.
