Big engine tax is a good idea though… we should do that too.

IMO the tax on a car should scale exponentially with the weight of the vehicle because the damage they cause to roads and in collisions.
Don’t forget that big combustion cars also create more CO2
Man seeing US and EU automakers getting spanked like this comical but really pathetic...
At least Chinese used their state aid to get shit done... Our dear leaders wasted all the money and now want more so they can compete.
Another example is Intel... Spend billions buying back shares, got billions to build fabs in America... also milking germany
You can't fail up any higher, clown capitalism
Hey don't forget the CHIPS act fabs that are behind schedule because foreign companies realized that Americans are lazy and don't work hard.
American worker ohh so lazy but every shiti corpo wants to sell to them... hmmm
amazing how they can separate a person into two pieces like that when they only want one.
In case you were not having a stroke: having money does not equate to being productive.
Way to miss the point haha
I mean part of capitalism is maximizing your income. Being a lazy worker is part of that.
How dare you hurt better people's profit.
But yeah if I don't get a wage increase, I reduce my output. Game 101 IMHO

i've learned recently some of the japanese & korean automakers have joined forces to respond to this new threat and i suspect they're the only ones who have a chance at thriving in the next 10 to 20 years because of it.
There is a good reason why I did not mention them while yes they too get ton of state aid, at least their product speaks for itself!
I would never buy US or EU junk... again.
I will definitely never buy anything from Stellantis ever again.
Ahh yes... the worst of BOTH!
How about a 1% tax for every 100lbs the vehicle weighs.
I agree. Cars should be taxed by weight. The heavier the vehicle the more wear and tear it causes to the infrastructure, and also the deadlier it is in a collusion.
That would be good, but it should rampup exponentally the heavier the vehicle is. So say a 3000lb vehicle is 50% tax, a 6000lb vehicle should be MUCH higher, maybe 500% or so. Make it really worth while to reduce weight, which is of course the number one issue for the safety of people outside of the car.
Cars go heavier but carrying the same number of passengers. Something ain't right.
But add an exception for EVs since they're heavier. We need cheaper EVs, not more expensive ones.
We also need smaller EVs.
Absolutely, but EVs still would be affected disproportionately since the battery weighs a lot.
They could get a bonus or a factor. But I wouldn’t completely exempt them.
I am so glad I live in a country with a free economy. If I want to buy a VW I can, if I want to buy a GMC I can, if I want to buy a Suzuki I can, if I want to buy a BYD I can. Sometimes even cheaper than in their home country.
