A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

In the long run, humans whose biologies most closely resemble rats will have better medical outcomes and therefore greater evolutionary fitness.

My thought was they will always be in the frontiers of medicine since they are used as experiments. Results from rat experiments does not usually equate to be successful to humans. Not saying we should forgo ethics and do human experiments right away, just an observation.

it doesnt equate to overall better rats either. its not like the cumulative knowledge of rat health is used against some population to make them better.

in fact, id argue this placement causes them worse outcomes overall as they are continually killed for analysis even upon success.

Yeah your right my observation is just more on the technology side of thing they are more advance. We just happen to know a lot about rats psychology and their anatomy as a side effect trying to advance ours.

Good shower thought nonetheless

Don't forget mice. Those fuckers get all the treatments for cancer. Selfish bastards.

The experiments are often done with modified rats (genetically or otherwise) to be closer to humans or they are in situations they would normally never get in (obesity or cancer...)

Makes it even more questionable if it's really worth it to do all this to have results that still not apply to humans. There is research for experiments that do not involve animals

Rat science in general is far beyond what humans can accomplish.

Why do you think it's called the rat race? We all just trying to catch up to them.

Your thinking to the Earth. Earth was built by the mice

I guess they pay for it.

Rats are on a rolling release model, I prefer to be on a stable release schedule.
