I like it but it's missing Avery Brooks saying "Because I can live with it. I can live with it" right before erasing the log. Absolutely amazing delivery, and a shame to leave it out.

The way his conviction wavers as he says it also shows that he's trying to convince himself and justify his actions to himself more than anything else. It's not that he can live with it, it's that he has to live with it.

Yeah. The repeating of "I can live with it" isn't for him to try to convince us or the future, but himself.
