I accidentally bought a tamper with a textured surface instead of just a smooth surface. Is one better than the other?

Yeah it seemingly doesn't make a notable difference to taste or flow, compared to my smooth tamper. But the puck does look better right after tamping with the small rings created by the tamper 🤷‍♂️
