I saw this on reddit, commented and got torn apart by Avatar fans. I had no idea they had any! I will say it here, the series no one asked for and most can't remember it until someone mentions it. That says everything about Avatar.

While the story can be a bit bland or even cringy, the movies have a lot of visual appeal. I'm not surprised they do well.

They aren’t great movies, but they translate well and perform really well in overseas markets. The previous entry made over two billion dollars worldwide. For that kind of money it’s not surprising they are making another one.

Another one? Hasn't Cameron mapped out about five in total? :-)

2 of the 3 highest grossing movies of all time are bound to have a few fans.

I thought this was the good Avatar based on the subtitle and that it was going to be a prequel of sorts chronicling the first wave of attacks by the fire nation. I was hoping this would be the beginning of a series of movies that would be better than the other attempts.

Then I saw the blue person...

Zoe Saldana as Katara couldn't be any worse than the nepo baby in the M. Night Shyamalan train wreck.

Same, every time I read avatar I'm super hyped about some last airbender stuff, and then....

It's strange how in some circles, people love to hate on massively popular movies, and things millions of people love and look forward to. So weird.

I wouldn't say hate, but they are entirely mediocre movies, at least the first one, never bothered to watch the second one, that's how little I care about it.

Is it the story that determines how much you enjoy a movie?

They are shiiiiiit, for sure. The only thing is the 3-D. I can't remember the first one, watched it at home. The second one, I watched in theater and only remember the 3-D.

Now FernGully, I remember.
