Been playing X3TC again and I'm noticing how this ship looks a lot like the Argon Trading Stations (or rather the other way around). Now I wonder if this was the actual inspiration for 'em.

Omfg EV was so good, I'd forgotten all about those games!

I downloaded some freeware 3d rendering software to make ships for mods, learned what sprites were, and spent so much time using resedit.

Damn that was a great series of games.
