"18F was doing exactly the type of work that DOGE claims to want – yet we were eliminated."
Not trying to be negative here, but if this organization has been around for this long already, you have failed. I see no meaningful change in wasteful spending over the last ten years, directly related to deficit spending and national debt.
“I don’t understand what’s going on, therefore you are the problem!”
Good efficiency work is seamless and silent.
Maybe that’s because there wasn’t much wasteful spending outside of DoD. And lo and behold, a former 18F employee said on social media they saved $500 million at the Dept of Defense alone.
Also, if you think the point of DOGE is actually to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you’re probably being a scooch naive. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be so sloppy and arbitrary about who gets fired or (shocker!) be going after agencies that have investigated Trump or Musk’s companies. It’s going to cost more to clean up the mess than they’ll ever save and that’s ignoring all the lawsuits.
Just being pedantic here... skosh 🤷♂️
Well... that's a hole I didn't expect to go down.
This might be a regionalism. I’ve never heard anyone say skosh (rhyming with gauche) as opposed to scooch (rhyming with…mooch).
But we pronounce a lot of things “wrong” in New Orleans. There usually turns out to be an interesting reason for it and sometimes, it’s just a gradual corruption of the original pronunciation.
It also depends on what access they have. Easiest would be to axe subsidies to oil companies, but no way they're be able to just do something like that. There's too much protection around that money.
Of course, if they're doing exactly as DOGE, they suck and I'm glad they're blocked because DOGE has made terrible decisions.
