Trump proposes 'permanently' displacing Palestinians so U.S. can take over Gaza | CBC News (www.cbc.ca)

U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday he wants his country to take ownership of the Gaza Strip and redevelop it after Palestinians are displaced elsewhere.

"We will own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site," Trump said at the start of a joint news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"I do see a long-term ownership position," Trump said when asked about the U.S. controlling the territory for an extended period, adding that he is not ruling out sending U.S. troops in to secure Gaza.

Trump's comments came hours after he suggested that displaced Palestinians in Gaza be "permanently" resettled outside the war-torn territory.

"You can't live in Gaza right now. I think we need another location," Trump said earlier Tuesday.

"I think it should be a location that's going to make people happy. You look over the decades, it's all death in Gaza. This has been happening for years. It's all death. If we can get a beautiful area to resettle people, permanently, in nice homes where they can be happy and not be shot and not be killed and not be knifed to death like what's happening in Gaza."

Trump has previously called on Jordan, Egypt and other Arab countries to take in Palestinians temporarily while Gaza is reconstructed after the devastating war between Hamas and Israel, which was paused in January by a ceasefire. Tuesday was the first time he has publicly floated making that resettlement permanent.

Literally. This is the result of the level of discourse on the internet and of petty one-upsmanship with a complete disconnect from reality. All that matters is being 'right' not what actually happens in the world. Therefore it's a race to the bottom while doing everything possible to shatter any political power that might have resulted in a coalition with any chance of saving anything.

So we get the worst because people are too busy shitting on anyone they can point a finger at for not being their idea of perfect.

We are apparently incapable of learning how to get along with one another on the left and are utterly susceptible to atomization, while the right is capable of banding together with absolute moral bankruptcy to light the planet on fire, commit genocide, and destroy every social service we ever had.

Fucking infuriating that this feckless performative bullshit is the best we can muster. That we literally are too divided by pointing out everything wrong with everyone else to ever get together and accomplish anything.

The stupid thing is, the people directing the bot farms that started this? They fucked themselves too. The right fucked themselves, the center fucked themselves, the left who couldn't get it together to work with anyone lacking ideological 'purity' fucked themselves.

Humans are too stupid to exist. Fucking checkmate. We all lose.

Keep calling them out and internalize the spite. We're not extinct yet. People have come back from worse than this. Despite what these people say things can get better.
