Bet OP don't even know what happened on Kent State.

You can't hate two unrelated atrocities at once? That's a skill issue my dude, get good.

Like, do you think that Kent state happening means Tiananmen didn't happen or wasn't actually bad because people on the other side of the world also did bad things, or what the hell was your point with this exactly? Or did you just like bang at the keyboard until a syntactically correct sentence accidentally formed?

It's classic whataboutism

It's a diversion tactic

Basically the person you replied to was attempting to divert attention away from the topic at hand because they have no defense for the actions described

In short: "Bad thing happened over there what about that huh? How can you criticize X over here if Y happened over there?"

I have never seen an American denouncing what happened on Kent State, something they could theoretically do something about, but I have see them denouncing Tiamen every day, something they couldn't do something about. How is that?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

something they could theoretically do something about,

You mean time travel?!

But anyway I'll answer your question, it's because nobody here ever defends nor denies Kent State, everyone agrees it happend and that it was bad. If you make a post criticizing Kent State right now, I bet you not one person would say "But whaddabout Tiennanman Square?!" See the difference? The problem is that you and every other genocide denialist like you is of the opinion "it didn't happen and if it did it was good."

I mean, have ever the US government acknowledge how fuck up was that the army killed pacifist protesters and nobody was persecuted about? How about starting with that. About the reception of posts criticizing what happened on Kent State is hard to know, because I have never see on my life anyone talking about it. I guess you would need an HBO series showing it for Americans to learn anout their own history, as it happened with Tusla, because that the only way they learn about that things.

The Kent State shootings had nothing to do with the US Army or the US government. The Ohio National Guard shot those kids. At least pick up a fucking history book if you’re going to try deflecting with something completely unrelated.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

As we all know the Ohio national guard has nothing to do with the US government

Has China ever admitted to the atrocities in Tiennanman Square then? There, see how utterly irrelevant it is to kent state and makes absolutely no sense? That's what you sound like.

Most Americans already know lmao and we all agree it is bad, that's the difference, as opposed to this (gestures towards you.)

A brief search on Kent State tells me that the President put together a Commission to figure out what exactly happened. Which then forced the National Guard to re-evaluate their tactics in such situations and led to them adopting non lethal tactics. Also there are plenty of memorials and the like up in that area.

As compared to Tiananmen Square where they censor the ever loving shit out of any mention of the incident.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

We're not talking about Kent State, we're talking about Tienanmen Square. You know, the atrocity where between "a few hundred to a few thousand peaceful protesters" were killed by the CCP (A government with no legitimate mandate from the people it governs).

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

That means you've never heard Ohio by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, which is a shame because it rocks.
