Edit: I had someone comment one time when I did, and it was kind of weird and embarrassing? But it seemed like a fairly normal thing to do, so I thought I'd ask.

Are there people that don't?

Yes, and they're either sociopaths, or were born with a critical lack of curiosity.

Okay this is entirely unrelated but your "born without a lack of critical curiosity" really hit home for some reason.

Whenever I go to a store that has stuff I find generally interesting, I feel the need to touch it, just so I know what it feels like. I had an ex who hated whenever I did that, like she thought I was a toddler trying to look at and buy everything. It really made me feel bad.

I smell everything I grab. Sometimes my wife comments on it but it doesnt bother her. We use our senses to make sense of the world, big news.

I don't smell everything I grab, but I smell everything I eat before I put it in my mouth. Imo though it's not like a neurodivergent sensory thing, I just like smelling good food before I eat it; kinda like a palate preparation.

My dude, that rings super true for me. I'm very.... textural? I'm not going to buy something if it feels shitty to touch. Most of the foods I don't like taste just fine, but I don't like how they feel in my mouth.

Don't feel bad about it, you're not alone, and even if you were, that's really got to be one of the stupidest reasons I've heard to be pissed at someone.
