ffmpeg is actually a bad example in this case, it's evolved so much and including way more stuff than what it was originally set out to do. Like sure it doesn't come with UI but commercial/FOSS software all use it one way or another.
Haha, I wanted to object to that one as well :)
If you ever had to find an error in the ffmpeg debug log, you would not say this software is finished...

Dang, it's gonna eat the CPU util even better now? I hope this can be implemented for better and faster scrubbing/stepping experience.(both VLC and Shotcut)
