It's a bit hyperbolic, it's only the TDI engines that got dropped for Ford engines, as the TDI engines couldn't pass Euro6 without more engineering work than buying Ford's engines cost.

Shame though, since those Ford diesels are woeful and despite the NOx emissions, the TDI's were really good.
