I have a blatant lack of sympathy for the smug liberal elite at the NYT when the guillotine takes off their heads too

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I do not understand this phrase. All elites are authoritarians. Explain what a liberal elite is..? Truly what do you mean by that?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

The Bourgeoisie are the elite in liberal democracies, and liberalism is their ideology. Hence the name "liberal elite".

Do not confuse liberalism with progressivism or leftism. It's dead centrist at the moment.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

There's no such thing as liberal elite. If you're a liberal and you don't believe in anyone who is elite, it goes against the ideology.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

You should try explaining this to the liberal elite. They absolutely believe in it.

Just look at how they talk about people who live in rural areas.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Citizen: can we get universal health care?

GOP: no Dems: no #BLM #LGBTQIA+rights ✊🏻✊🏽✊🏿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

Basically this.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

I mean I agree with you that happened but also you know there are people in the democratic party who try/are trying. What you're saying is funny and easy to say but in this conversation it's just not true.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Ahistorical nonsense. They don't believe in a nobility by birth, but they absolutely believe that some people "are just better than others" and who should rule. Its so foundational to the ideology that its written into the US Constitution. Anyone who believes that capitalism is a meritocracy (ie Liberals) believes there should be a liberal elite.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

The NYT leans heavily liberal. As does most of the pearly clutching mainstream media.

Also, slightly unrelated, let’s not forget who published known lies leading to the Iraq war, cheerleaded it and slandered anyone who questioned the WMD narrative. They’ve got ~200k lives on their hands.

Would be a shame if someone deny delay desposed their CEO.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The billionaire owned media....yeah the only thing liberal about the media is the right wing owners screaming about it. There's no liberal media

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Liberals love capitalism. They love dropping bombs with rainbow and BLM flags on them. They’re fine with imperialism so long as it’s the first black Indian woman president doing the bombing.

The NYT is overwhelmingly liberal. They have some conservatives in their editorial staff but the majority are liberals. Most of the MSM is. But all the MSM protect their class interests.

They protect their socioeconomic class at the expense of the working class. They are the servants of the billionaires. The republicans are no better, that goes without saying.

Liberalism is a right wing ideology. You’ve almost got the point.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

You are extremely twisted up.

Liberalism is not right wing, and what you're talking about is neoliberalism. Which is different.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Overton window around here is so far right you think you're the one correcting him... Fuck damn.

Compared to monarchy/fascism, liberalism is farther towards the center but it does not often cross that line.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hahaha imagine being this arrogant and immediately shooting yourself in the foot.

No Liberalism is left leaning. It is a center ideology 100% but liberalism is left leaning. The concept of liberalism literally became in existence opposite of a monarchy right wing style, placing it to the left.

Now since then the term liberalism has been abused especially in the US but you live in a world that was ruled by kings and still is in many ways. But you think globally that means liberals are right leaning?? Outside of your mind.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

In our day and age liberalism is center right. It was left wing back in Napoleonic times. But its post-cold war now. Capitalism and thoroughly replaced feudalism.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

cause you're talking about three different kinds of liberalism thinking they're the same

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Different evolutions of the same ideological movement representing the same socioeconomic class. How is this hard to understand? All US presidents have been liberals. Different types of liberals exist but they are still liberals.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Apparently for you it is. Go take a single political science class and tell your teacher Liberalism is right wing ideology or right leaning they're gonna ask you to prove it and you'll say "well fiscally" and they're gonna laugh at you

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

This is the academic and historical definition of liberalism that I'm using. Your US civics teacher gave you the brain damage to think liberalism is the opposite of conservatism and not just a clever slander of progressives.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

No it is not. You tried to say in "Napoleonic times" it WAS left and moved right.

That is not how ideologies work and that is not how the political spectrum works either. Literally google political spectrum I would bet my testicles enough of them exist that literally label the left side "Liberal"

And no my polisci professor did not say it is the opposite of conservatism especially because it predates such a thing. In fact conservatism is considered a reactionary political stance to liberalism. Instead he made it clear before Liberalism there was really only traditionalism and people discussing concepts like liberty and freedom and such, there wasn't anything to compare it to. He also made it clear that defining these and stances about these politics is extremely difficult for example people still dunno if Jefferson agreed or disagreed with Locke because of the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness line.

But what he did make absolutely clear was the political spectrum was not very well made and that liberalism is left wing you dope

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Liberalism enshrines capitalism so it's right of center.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Uh huh and what about the rest of liberalism

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You're talking about the social politics of liberalism? Typically people will use more of a compass to better describe the intersection between social and fiscal policies. Fiscal is the left to right, Liberty is the bottom to top, and some even add a Z axis for progressive vs regressive.

While there are different flavors, American liberalism is considered right of center on fiscal policy but less authoritarian on more personal freedoms than conservative views. Ie: both support big business, but liberals are more okay if you're LGBT+.

Excerpt from Wikipedia about classical liberalism: "In the context of American politics, "classical liberalism" may be described as "fiscally conservative" and "socially liberal".[55] Despite this, classical liberals tend to reject the right's higher tolerance for economic protectionism and the left's inclination for collective group rights due to classical liberalism's central principle of individualism.[56] Additionally, in the United States, classical liberalism is considered closely tied to, or synonymous with, American libertarianism."

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hahaha sure.

I agree largely with the information you've presented but you're swerving to prove a point.

Liberalism as a whole umbrella term is absolutely left wing. It literally is like the basis of left wing anything. Fiscally it is only considered more right than it was because of the introduction of socalism really but broadly across the world and history no liberalism in all forms is left leaning even if it suggests some right leaning fiscal policies it also has left leaning fiscal policies, affordable healthcare, housing, the idea of people not being dirt poor or slaves to a system stems from liberalism in its heart, name and literally everything else liberalism is left wing. The most right leaning form of liberalism, neoliberalism is still domestically pretty left leaning.

You guys hangout too inside a box of leftness everything you see is right leaning

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Within your Overton window, liberalism is left wing. Compared to the gamut of political ideologies, it is not.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago

liberalism is literally what started the concept of left wing.

You're absolutely silly

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No. You’re completely wrong. Liberalism is a right wing ideology. Neoliberalism is even further right. The entire US political spectrum save for a tiny handful of elected officials (Bernie and the squad, most of whom are centrists at best) are right wing to fascist.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Nope. You completely don't understand classic liberalism and modern liberalism or neoliberalism

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Dude. You’re embarrassing yourself.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago

Because what three yuppies think Liberalism, the beginning of the concept of left wing anything, is right wing? Billions of people on the planet three morons aren't right big deal lmfao.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago

You seem to have some completely backwards idea that liberals are anti-billionaire socialists when liberalism is pro-capitalism by definition. NY Times is the mouthpiece of american liberalism.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago

It means Jews tradirionally
