Question..?

Why do presidential candidates need financial donations in the first place? Why does it seem like the candidate that ~~grifts~~ gets the most money is more likely to win?

Where's the money go?

Political advertising is a huge chunk. Many campaign staff are paid. Campaign travel expenses are significant since the presidential and VP candidates are traveling often in separate parties to separate places. Rallies have to be rented with associated expenses .

None of this is free, and being cash strapped in a campaign can definitely make a difference in how many votes you get. But allowing infinite donations like this is not the only way to do things and ultimately grants the rich disproportionate influence.

Not entirely true, since the orange turd is notorious for deliberately not paying

Political campaigns are essentially just advertising campaigns pumping up a single person, the money is used to buy ads, office space to organize, and physically move people from place to place. Plus money collected by the party for the national campaign with get used to support ad buys for candidates in down ballot races.

It is because in 2010 an unelected group of theocratic fascists decided it was legal to spend unlimited amounts of money on propaganda. My understanding is all the money goes to advertising in various forms.
