Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

The main issue nowadays is anticheat. If you play esports (league of legends, apex legend, fortnite), you will have trouble. Pretty much everything else will be good to go.
League of Legends works perfectly on Linux
Apex works flawlessly, without having to do any manual tweaking.
Afaik there is a patched wine version that still lets you play LoL, but with Fortnite you're sol.
Oh,my info is old then! Exciting
As others have mentioned, the main caveat here is that anti cheat games can work if the developers enable the support.
I’ve been playing dead by daylight very happily for a good few months now on Linux. Apex legends has also got official support for Linux as well.
