Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Interestingly, this CPU performs noticeably better under Linux than under Windows 11
Afaik basically all CPUs do. Generally all hardware, if not artificially limited by withholding drivers, will perform better under linux.
Microshit wasting money ruining windows and spending no cash on optimization. Corpo leadership for ya in today's America.
Parasites just looting.
No need to optimize when you can just push people to upgrade their hardware more frequently so you make fat stacks of cash from OEM's.
It's gotten to the point though that it actually works better on older hardware as the system can't actually fully utilise the new hardware because it's not programmed to do that. It's actually such a sad state of affairs. I don't know how the Windows devs can cope anymore. If I worked on that product I would hate my life.
