Linking popsci and not checking their sources which misinterprets findings from a single study of bacteria in the air… in some Midwestern US cities.

Incorrect again! There is a link in there to an aggregation by the Mayo clinic on MANY studies and articles that were used in forming the content of that webpage.

Secondly, are you trying to imply that Popular Science, one of the most rigorous and publicly approved science publishings would still be hosting an article from seven years ago if it had been refuted?
