I've wanted a nice modern mountain bike for years, so I finally went and got one. There are lots of trails near where I live -- including some right in my back yard. Today I drove about 10 minutes to a nice place I had heard about, and it was a really good ride. Easy enough that I could do it, but hard enough that it was a challenge.

I don't know - having a camo bike in the woods is dangerous

Hunting isn't allowed here except in some designated places, and only for 1 or 2 months out of the year... and only if the deer population is deemed too high, and even then they only allow bow hunting. Still, ya never know. I should get some cool orange clothes.

Cool! Nothing like a woodland setting. Here in the mid-Atlantic, where it's 96°F and (what feels like) 96% humidity, I've been doing laps on the trail between my easy chair and my refrigerator.

Yeah, we had a heat index of 95+. It didn't feel too bad in the woods, thankfully.

Nice to hear that your new bike is satisfying and cool photo! It's kinda interesting to note that this forest/woodland area looks very similar to the ones around where I live.

That's super interesting, honestly. I've lived in 4 or 5 places in the eastern US and all of the woods were distinctly different. The woods here are my favorite of the places I've lived.

I actually found it pretty surprising too tbh. Most forests here in Thuringia are 'Mischwälder' , meaning they are a mix of both deciduous trees and conifers/pine trees. Means you have a pretty even mix of foliage and needles around everywhere. If I remember, I'll snap a photo for you and post it to next week's thread 😉
