I've always very strongly held the opinion that video games are art. They should be just as valued as consuming other "high" arts like theater.
I think it's fine to classify certain things as high art if you don't let that devalue works that don't fit the category. I see video games as a medium rather than art and it's perfectly possible to produce high art from it.
There's definitely games that I consider good art, that really stick with you and change your outlook on things, but there's also a bunch that are just fun
