A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

Rules

The rules may be more established as time goes on, but it's important to have a foundation to work on.

1. Follow the rules of Lemmy.world - These rules are the same as Mastodon.world's rules, which can be found here.

2. Include a community title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.

Formatting

Please include this following format in your post:

[link text](/c/[email protected])

This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't

You should also include either:

[email protected]

or instance.com/c/community

FAQ:

Q: Why do I get a 404?

A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.

Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?

A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.

For some reason I never got the mention. Yes, soccer.forum (and pretty much all the other instances listed on [email protected]) are still active and up-to-date.

Also, I'm still waiting for the official announcement, but I do have some good news regarding funding for Fediverser, so hopefully soon I will be able to resume work on the two-way bridge.

Good news!

Regarding soccer.forum, I tried to federate one of the posts (https://soccer.forum/post/soccer.forum/8983) to Reddthat, but it doesn't show up: https://reddthat.com/search?q=https%3A%2F%2Fsoccer.forum%2Fpost%2Fsoccer.forum%2F8983&type=All&listingType=All&page=1&sort=TopAll

Do you have any what could be the issue?

Probably because the url format from photon UI is different. You need to get the link from the "share" button.

Also, I don't know if noticed, but there is [email protected] that discusses growth of Lemmy, you will probably be interested

Will check it out, thank you!

That will also get the post url from the home instance itself which is needed to federate posts.

I have a question for you: how do you find comments that mention Photon? Do you have an alerting of some sort?

I regularly search for the term "photon" because I've found lots of people mentioning bugs and the sort outside the photon community.

Makes sense, thanks!
