Both my grandparents died from these...

I should just get my big toenails removed lol.

Maybe their grandparents had diabetes? Wounds on the foot can get infected and not heal due to lack of circulation, resulting in necrosis, amputation, and sometimes death.

It might have been a joke but my cursed medical knowledge just fell out of my brain and maybe ruined it. Sorry.

Bingo. 1/2 my native family I know get taken out by ingrown toenails.

I'm truly sorry to hear that. That sort of chronic issue is incredibly painful, especially when it ends with necrosis and death.

I hope you and your loved ones have good health and live long happy lives.

It's literal. Diabetes and ingrown toenails make for amputations which make for slow deaths.
