The Author of this article, David P Goldman, sounds remarkably like a Trumper and in fact if you look at their list of articles it doesn't take long at all to get a sense of their beliefs.
if so called sensible neoliberal monsters refuse to engage with reality, they're leaving the playing field open to even worse ghouls.
perhaps they should poke their head out of their ideology bunker and look at what's really going on.
You have correctly identified the contradiction however need to work a little bit on resolving it.
