It's maddening. The power of propaganda is truly impressive.

The propaganda is effective, but not absolutely. There has to be an innate wanting to believe the propaganda. These people benefit from believing it; it means they do not have to change their lifestyles or feel guilt. These people are to blam as much as the propaganda is.
