slowly putting together a new system – I didn’t plan on it being a lightweight system, it’s just kinda ended up that way (and probably won’t be by the time I finish) – actually finding it kinda fun building up piece-by-piece

I've been going through my old screenshots and thought I'd share some for nostalgia. This shot is from 2007, when I was working on several logo concepts for Arch Linux (it remains one of my favourites).

As I recall, the specs were as follows:

  • WM: Openbox
  • GTK: Murrina-Tangoesque
  • Icons: Tango
  • Panel: Tint2
  • Systray: Stalonetray (I think)
  • Stats: Conky

  • OS: OpenBSD 7.5-current amd64
  • Host: Lenovo ThinkPad T400
  • WM: cwm
  • GTK Theme: Mint-L-Dark-Purple
  • Icon Theme: GNOME-Noble
  • Font: spleen

  • Shell: ksh
  • Browser: Tor Browser
  • Editor: nvim
  • Terminal: Sakura

I plan to make my own GTK theme for this machine, but Mint-L is a pretty good fit for now.

I've had a special Neofetch logo to go with Chicago95 for a while. I finally bothered to switch over to Fastfetch, so I ported the logo over. Above is a terminal window with my result. Here's the git repo. I configured all window panes to be green in order to go well with the Space Chicago95 Plus Theme.

Screen shots of my new Cinnamon Desktop environment on #Aarch64 #Debian 12.5.

I am really digging the combination of the "High Contrast" widget theme with the ordinary (non-high-contrast) icon and window decoration themes. I am using the "Mojave Light" window decoration theme from the Cinnamon theme repository, and the Adwaita default icon theme for all applications programmed using the Gtk framework. Fonts are all set to DejaVu Sans Mono.

One of the reasons why I use i3 is because I can dedicate a workspace for specific programs and a specific layout. What other wm allow this kind of configuration?
