This map is outdated, but keep in mind, that some companies who produce European products might be owned by American companies.

Hi im looking for a european alternative for my browser. I understand that basically all browser are either chromium or Firefox based. I heard mozilla is also going through their own enshittificafion so im looking for a european alternatieve

I would probably still prefer a Firefox based browser over a chromium based one, because โ€ฆ you knowโ€ฆ Google.

Ive find librewolf to be the only real alternative but also heard good things about Zen Browser. But for The life of me, I cannot find where โ€˜The zen browser teamโ€™ Company is based or operaties from.

Does any one know this? Any other tips or suggestions are also welcome.

What are you favorite European weather applications/webpages? At the moment Iโ€™m using https://www.yr.no/, but I donโ€™t completely like the design of their application. I mostly donโ€™t like the fact that each day is split into 4 segments instead of showing one line per day. It might sound like a minor thing (and it really is), but if someone knows other good alternatives please share your experiences.

I'm currently using a Nextcloud instance hosted by a volunteer run non profit. 12โ‚ฌ per account per year, I have one for me and my girlfriend.

However, calendar sharing is limited to people on the users on that Nextcloud instance, which is a bit limiting.

Do you have alternatives that allow federated calendar sharing?

https://calendar.online/ seems promising and is German, has anyone used them before?

Advantages of GDPR for End Users

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a landmark privacy law that offers several advantages to end users, particularly those who may be unaware of their data rights:

  1. Increased Control Over Personal Data: GDPR empowers individuals by giving them the right to access, correct, and even delete their personal data held by companies.

  2. Transparency: Companies must clearly communicate how they collect, use, and share personal data. This transparency helps users understand the implications of sharing their information.

  3. Consent: GDPR mandates that companies obtain explicit consent from users before collecting and processing their data. This ensures that users are aware of and agree to data collection practices.

  4. Data Protection: GDPR enforces stringent security measures to protect personal data from breaches and unauthorized access.

  5. Right to Be Forgotten: Users can request that their data be erased, providing a way to remove personal information from the internet.

Comparison with American and Chinese Software

  • United States: The U.S. does not have a comprehensive federal law equivalent to GDPR. Instead, it relies on a patchwork of sector-specific laws and regulations. This can lead to less protection and transparency for users, as companies have more leeway in how they handle personal data.

  • China: China's approach to data privacy is significantly different. The Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) aims to protect personal data but is often criticized for its lack of enforcement and the government's extensive surveillance capabilities. Users in China may face challenges in exercising their data rights due to these factors.

Hello everyone! A few days ago I set up a small server on Revolt. Itโ€™s a Discord alternative, so there are different channels to chat, share products and ideas, ask questions, etc.

If anyone is interested in meeting and hanging out with like-minded folks, come say hi! There are currently 40 members. Lots of room to grow and develop into an active little community. Cheers

Mentioned by nightm4re I would really love for this thingy to skyrocket.

And yes, I know.... I know.. drop in replacement, usability, acceptance. Is a simple monkey not allowed to dream?

I love my Rotpunkt vacuum jug, ngl. If you fill it up with hot tea and close it properly, it's still hot enough to burn your tongue a day later, it's amazing. It's Made in Germany.

I enjoy support journalism which is not commercially driven and am looking for European media. In Germany there is e.g. Jung und Naiv, taz or Riffreporter. But they all have a focus on german politics mainly i want more EU or Europe Politics. I thought about Guardian - they at least try to cover some European stuff.
