(Reposting @[email protected]'s post to federate sticky post and adding a bit of new info. Here you can find the original post.

Additionally: A link to a post where the dev answers questions about buy-european.net's philosophy and reasoning around their decisions.

We worked the last months on a new completely ad-free database for European products, brands, services and companies. A few days ago we released the site. The website focuses on usability with a simple search form and a clear structure. After the technical development we are now in the process of filling the database with content. The website is currently available in English and German!

You can also submit your own suggestions for European products, Non-European products that you try to find alternatives to, and categories that may be missing.

If you have any feedback, we would appreciate it. If you like it and want to share it, we appreciate that too. :)

Thanks in advance!

Hello ๐Ÿ˜Š I'm a chonky girl with some fat cankles, looking for some really wide socks. Anybody got any tips? I've searched far and wide, but I can't find anything cheap made in Europe. Call me crazy but I don't want to pay 40 euros for 3 wide socks ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Hello, is there any social media on this planet that does not ban people for things that are completely legal in all of the European legal systems?

Or is the fediverse the best choice because even though if moderators guide public opinion on the mainstream instances, people can still go to a smaller instance for refuge.

The best way to install them is through the F-Droid store, which is a catalogue of FOSS software for Android. It's installable by downloading the .apk file linked on the front page of the F-Droid projec'ts website. The mentioned apps from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology can then be found by searching for "SECUSO", which is the name of the research project behind them all.

Alternatively, you can also get them through the Google Play Store under this link or again by searching for "SECUSO".

In particular, I recommend getting the QR code reader, because many of the free-to-use scanners route everything you scan through their servers, so they're obviously collecting your data on their servers, wherever these may be located.

Quick and incomplete summary: In recent years Lidl invested heavily in cyber security and cloud computing, first for their own independent infrastructure, but they're already selling their security and cloud services to other big companies. The video makes the point that eventually they could become a proper competition for Amazon AWS and other services.

I'm hosting my domains, websites and primarily my (and my families email) with Domain Factory. But now they are migrating their mail to Microsoft 365. I really don't like that.

Do you have suggestions for a European hoster?

What do I need? It's basically just lot's of mail storage and SSL certificates for domains. Webspace i don't need that much, maybe 100 MB.

A list of recommendations produced by the EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly โ€“ a delegation of members from the UK and EU parliaments aimed at strengthening relations with the bloc โ€“ has urged the government to establish a โ€œyouth opportunity schemeโ€.

It is understood the scheme would operate similarly to proposals for a โ€œyouth mobility schemeโ€, which had become a major sticking point between the UK and EU.

It would allow 18- to 35-year-olds, including those doing apprenticeships, to move and work freely between countries for up to two years.

Britain already has a similar agreement with Australia and 12 other countries, including New Zealand, South Korea, Iceland, Uruguay, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

There is widespread support among the British public for such an agreement with the EU, with a YouGov survey of almost 15,000 people indicating that two-thirds (66 per cent) of people backed the scheme, compared to just one in five (18 per cent) who are opposed.

In Nigel Farageโ€™s Clacton-on-Sea constituency, which voted overwhelmingly in favour of leaving the EU in 2016, more than twice as many people were in favour (57 per cent) than against (25 per cent) the idea of a mobility scheme.
[โ€ฆ]
There is now hope among MPs on the parliamentary delegation that the change in language will help to get the agreement over the line, as it is understood that a key stumbling bloc for ministers was the term โ€œmobilityโ€ โ€“ amid fears critics would use it as evidence Labour is restoring freedom of movement.
