I've been using Beeper. It's open source and built on Matrix bridges, also open source. For RCS you have to link it to your Google Messages

Yeah, that's what I see. Maybe OP is using a weird Lemmy client that doesn't display pinned posts?

Thank you for this great tool!

Is there a way I could use this to find a Lemmy instance that let's me interact with desired instances? For example:

  • I want to participate in Instance A, B, and C.
  • A has defederated from B and C
  • can I generate a list of instances that let's me interact with A, B, and C? Then I'll move my account there.

Thank you!

How do I do this

If you're talking news media, much of their worst behavior is rooted in the ad-driven business model. Subscriptions would actually help make things better. Not sure if there's a way to leverage the fediverse for a subscription play, though

I can install any app I want on my Mac. How is this different?

Maybe not the best time to fire lasers at Ecuador, just saying

Karma for what?

Should go harder IMHO. This ad from the National Congress of American Indians does a good job.

I love Signal. But despite my best efforts, I still have friends using WA and iMessage. Managing multiple apps is kinda a pain. Beeper offers a convenient way to combine them into one interface, and it claims to re-encrypt the content. Does anyone know anything about this claim?

From their website:

Messages sent using Beeper to other chat networks are re-encrypted if the other network supports encryption (like Signal, WhatsApp and iMessage).

So..Safe? Or no?

First off: This post is about a tiny Leatherman multitool. Not a gun, not a sword, not something that can actually hurt someone. Just a small, harmless tool that is unfairly banned from planes because of onerous TSA regs. No one is going to do 9/11 with tiny pliers and a fingernail-sized screwdriver.

Now that that's cleared up...

There are 2 things I hate: Going without my keychain-sized Leatherman, and checking a bag at the airport. Unfortunately, these things are in conflict, as TSA won't let me take my precious Squirt (actual product name... ew) in my carry on. Over the years, I've probably lost half a dozen multitools to overzealous airport security, both in the US and abroad.

I've probably gotten it past security over a dozen times, but there doesn't seem to be any consistency to it. Packing it between my razor and my beard trimmer worked for a while, until it didn't. Lining it up with the handlebars of my suitcase worked a couple times. But then I lost another one.

"Did you know they sell airport-friendly Leathermans that don't have a knife?" Yes I do. Did you know that several overseas airports straight up don't care, and will take it anyway? (I'm looking at you, Philippines and Costa Rica.)

I don't need a different tool. What I really need is a reliable method to get this tiny tool past security, so that I can peacefully open beers, fix janky hotel showers, and open the occaisional package without having to buy a new Leatherman every year.

Thank you in advance for your calm, measured, and helpful responses.

I'm looking for a way to create a custom feed of multiple Lemmy communities. Reddit does something similar, calling it "custom feeds" or some clients refer to it as "channels." I've attached an image of my custom reddit feeds from the Satelite desktop app.

Use case: You could combine a bunch of news communities into a single custom feed, so you can have a feed that's filled with news.

Sometimes I want to view just news, but I don't want to unsubscribe from all the non-news communities I follow.

Is there any Lemmy client that makes this possible? Currently I use Jerboa on Android.

Having trouble scanning a Keri fob. The following posts on reddit show other people having trouble, but some suggest that it's possible.

Reddit posts:

Why is Flipper not able to read/detect Keri key fobs?

Keri Key Cards.. finally got one to read

Anyone have any tips for reading Keri fobs? Is there a suggested firmware?
