I'm a very simple being and my grocery tastes reflect that.
But I will grouse about changing the layout in the store for the rest of the night if you don't intervene.

I wouldn't lead with that but there's a lot of "foodies" out there. If you don't talk sports or the weather, food isn't a bad topic at a party. Everybody gotta eat
Naw that's just part of getting old.
My younger self would be very disappointed at the things I find exciting now.
I recently found an Indian grocery store that stocks those Heinz beans in the teal can that are popular on toast in the UK! ...turns out they're not very good. But I found them!!
I've moved over to Branston now. The last Heinz beans I had were horrible - watery sauce, not enough beans. Branston is the bomb.
My partner is British and we are in the US, so we end up hunting for stuff like this all the time. Luckily a market up the road happens to be owned by a Brit, so we can at least get tea biscuits there.
I have no idea what makes a good vs bad tea biscuit, but that Indian grocer definitely sold those as well. Idk if that's just a random coincidence or if there's some overlap in Indian and British snacks, but if there are any Indian stores near you, you might have some luck there.
Also Indian food is fucking incredible, so even if you don't find what you're looking for, you WILL find something tasty!
Yes, Indian food is incredible, we are in agreement there. The best biscuits, in our opinion, are Dark Chocolate Digestives (blue package), dunked in breakfast tea just long enough to soften the chocolate. I prefer 3 bites. She prefers to take the whole thing and sho.. Well, you get it.
This might be sweeter than you prefer, but there is a dark chocolate flavor: you familiar with Tim Tams? Or more specifically, the 'tim tam slam'?
"not very good". I'm actually getting really rather angry about this. In fact I think this might be a hate crime.
Aw fuck. This is my cue to confront my own bias: my palate is Americanized as fuck. Hell, my own mother probably had a corn syrup subsidy to add it to her tit juice before feeding it to me as a baby.
So, take my culinary assessment with a grain of ~~salt~~ sugar.
Haha. Nah, you're good 😊 . Brits like beans because they're cheap, easy and available. They're ok, hardly a culinary experience worth seeking out though :)
Although they are one of your five a day!
Younger me might be disappointed in a lot of things, but my fascination with new and interesting foods would not be a disappointment at all! If I told me "We're really into brie and canning salsa" we'd be delighted!
I've literally overheard multiple dinner party conversations about good finds from trader joes
A fellow Trader Joe's lover definitely transcends the lame smalltalk boundary. I don't even go but the way my dad recommends food when he meets someone else who goes to Trader Joe's you would think they had known each other their whole life.
Trader Joe's is okay for some things. I like their cinnamon rolls and think they are worth the five dollars.
Typically if someone asks me a very off key question like this, I assume it's because they want to be asked that question in order to start a conversation they have in mind. So I would usually give some answer: "I'm really enjoying baking bread right now, so I suppose flour."
Then ask "what about you?" Which is usually when the really interesting and often much more off key conversation starts. If not, I can start talking about baking bread, so it's win/win for me!
I picked up some Tobasco Scorpion pepper sauce at Kroger. It’s no joke. Where are you going?
Yesss scorpion pepper sauce! 🦂🔥
Dude, Newman's Own has a sourdough crust frozen pizza and it's amazing. It's now our go-to, "I'm too mentally drained to cook," food.
Oh, man. A few months ago I, a quadragenarian dude, spent like 20 minutes telling a friend about my skin care routine. … when I have the gumption to do it.
Not a recent purchase, but Costco had these halloumi fries recently and they were bomb. I’m sad to see that I can’t buy them right now.
How do you use halloumi during your routine?
On rough days I get high and eat too many of them. Helps fight wrinkles caused by furrowed brows.
Grapefruit, mostly.
Grapefruit reacts badly with or nullifies a loooot of medications :/
Gotta have something to believe in. Might as well be Luxardo cherries.
I mean... if you want to make a proper Old Fashioned...
Mind reader!
Actually yes! Fresh basil. I'm making a bruschetta chicken dinner tonight.
I got a basil plant from Walmart a few months ago because it was literally the same price as the dried stuff.
I've been putting basil in basically everything haha
A choice of groceries? Mister Moneybags here has so many choices for his groceries he has the luxury of having a preference of some over others. Ladies, if you go home with this guy you get your choice of breakfast the next morning. /s
Zucchini is pretty alright.
And cucumbers... eggplants... squash... pineapple... 😊
Seems like fine small talk to me.
I personally don't care much for sponsored foods but I acquired some post Malone oreos that are pretty good. They're super sweet though so 1 pack lasts like a month.
Foreign born tomatoes. Figured I better enjoy them while I can.
I'm eating kiwis every day, including the hairy skin.
Colorado jack white cheddar popcorn. Literally the best popcorn I’ve ever had.
I was feeling extravagant recently and picked up some Blackberry Dr Pepper.
I had a couple eggs a few weeks ago, couldn't afford orange juice though. Today I can't even afford toilet paper. Don't ask why I'm not wearing any socks..
