Why aren't these people in jail for acting as unregistered foreign agents?

AG Garland is an ineffectual punk ass bitch?

Because they're busy making animal rights activists get legally processed like domestic terrorists. So when it comes to animal agriculture you can pick your poison between foreign misinfo, domestic misinfo, and terrorism.

I remember, pre-9/11, that the hard right thought leaders were trying to convince everyone that ALF and ELF were no different than infamous terrorist outlets. They spent a lot of effort to build equivalency with domestic terrorists like McVeigh. Then 9/11 happened, and this kind of talk seemed to go away - at least for a while.

But, even on the "war on terror", I did notice that apparently vegan potluck groups were something to be suspicious of...

Alas, Wikipedia has a good explanation on this point, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_agent#United_States

in 1980, the court ruled that receiving "bona fide subsidy" from a foreign source does not render the recipient as a foreign agent unless the foreign direction or control is established.
the grants which it received were linked to specific programs it should have carried out, thus, it fell under "request".
appellate court found that even the identical leadership and the financial connection were not sufficient to grant summary judgement and a full trial was required since mere provision of funds was insufficient

If that's right, then it seems the question here then whether Russia was just giving money to keep afloat influencers who would have gone with this nonsense anyways, or if Russia had more direct control via request making.

I suspect it's the second one, but it seems a full trial would be needed to prove it, and I can imagine the handlers being really good at making sure there was never any paperwork to use as evidence that "requests" were made.

Food really is a third rail when it comes to cons having influence in this country, so I could see why the enemies that are foreign and domestic aim to use it to whip up the hard right even more.

There is a lot of emotional attachment to the SAD, and the central component of the SAD is big hunks of dead flesh. Also, all the usual antisemitic shit is there about how the "globalists" are coming to take your precious hunks of dead flesh and make you eat lab grown meat (so fucking what - how would they even know, LOL?) and "bug burgers". In other words, THE JOOOOS are coming to take your meat and make you grow a vagina, guys, and become a VEGAN! ERRRRRMAGAWWWWWD.

What is SAD? I just know it as seasonal affective disorder, which is the formal name for seasonal depression (I still can't get over the fact that people with seasonal depression can say they've been diagnosed with SAD)

SAD = Standard American Diet

so fucking what - how would they even know, LOL?

Lab grown hunks of flesh are more tender and better marbled? It's from an extinct animal? It's in a fun shape? It’s got genes from other species that make it taste good?

I'm really bullish on lab grown meat for these reasons. Imagine eating a mammoth rib like Fred Flintstone. That would be awesome.

And what’s more American than caffeinated bacon?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago

I do think it's not a bad idea, most especially on the energy/climate change front to move to lab grown. I'm assuming it will be just as problematic to health when it comes to causing inflammation, early aging, etc. If people, including vegans doing it for conscientious reasons, want to eat it, hey, sounds much better all the way around except for the health risks. And, at scale, it should be much, much cheaper, too.

Well, magaferbrainz like DeSantis have preemptively moved to outlaw it in their states. Just to stick it to the libz, I guess?

Because the same dipshits that use "soy boy" as an epithet are going to think that NOT torturing an animal its entire life and slaughtering it is some kind of plot from the JOOOZ, excuse me, "the globalists", to turn you gay and woke. DeSantis and others are most likely doing it for the usual reasons things are done - for the MONEY. But the idiots that support the likes of DeSantis are doing it for stupid cultural reasons.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

This is why the right loves religion. If you've already been brainwashed to believe something as stupid and fake as an organized religion then you're an easy target for the right's made-up bullshit.
