IPO cancels TAPE's 'Eat Bulaga' trademark, favors TVJ
In a decision released Tuesday, the IPO ruled that the petitioners — or the camp of TVJ — have the "absolute and exclusive right to register" the “Eat Bulaga” or “EB” trademark after it found that they presented sufficient evidence that they originally coined the term.
The IPO said that TAPE failed to sufficiently explain its claim of ownership of the “Eat Bulaga” name.
“The Petitioners proved that it is the originator and owner of the contested EAT BULAGA mark. Petitioners’ explanation or story on How initially the idea of the EAT BULAGA mark came about, did seem believable and credible," the IPO decision read.
