Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

MODERATORS

I'm just posting this article that’s already available on a much bigger platform than Lemmy—I didn’t write it, just sharing it for discussion.

If you disagree with the article, that's fine, but calling for it to be censored or accusing me of pushing an agenda just because I'm posting it or it’s not what you want to read is misguided. Open debate needs different perspectives, not censorship.

I’m clarifying all of this due to past posters refusing to refrain from personal attacks and insults, as well as repeated baseless accusations that I’m a Republican, Russian, and/or that I'm not even an American citizen. And one poster has been repeating over and over that I'm not even human (?!).

So I'd prefer we stick to discussing the article’s politics rather than focusing on me personally, if you'd like to engage with me. Now if you wanna just talk crap about me but not talk to me, then feel free. But I don't really think that fits in with the spirit of this awesome community.

I’m not here to prove anything to you. I’ll keep posting content that fits the community’s guidelines, and if you feel otherwise, the mods are available. Thank you!

Weird that OP posts almost exclusively about third parties

Nothing wrong with third parties in general. Nearly any 3rd party running presidential candidates is pretty suspect though. Basically none of them have qualified to be on even half of States ballots, and have already lost because of it. While this is something that we need to change. Running third party presidential candidates will never do that. On the off chance that they did somehow manage to win even a single state. They would immediately have to face the issue of faithless electors. And will have already lost for a second time in a row because of it. Which is also something that needs to be changed. But will not be changed by third party presidential candidates.

I absolutely encourage third parties to run for any local office they can. But when it comes to National and possibly even Statewide election. Third party need to think about solidarity and coalition. Running candidates to primary Democrats as Democrats where they can. That will do more to change things than anything else they can do.

has no shot at winning

So close to admitting this effort is not what it claims to be.
