As a self entitles source reader snob I often shit about anime adaptations of titles that I love. This whole arc with Abiko is so relatable, especially her hate for deviations from the source. But I will try to be less harsh in the future now that I understand better how those changes come to be.

It's still hard to not be frustrated though isn't it ?
Because you have that other version in your head of the same story but done better (in your own opinion at least).

Yoriko-sensei was really the best this episode.
I still think it was really assholish of abiko-sensei to rail on Goa like she did but I understand her perspective a little more. It will be interesting to see how she reacts to Goa's previous play, might get an apology scene next episode.

It really all comes back to Melt messing up Sweet Today huh? If they hadn't messed that up so bad, then she might be more trusting of the adaptation work. Clearly Yoriko-sensei hasn't forgiven him yet.

Only half-kidding, I know that Melt was just one of many reasons Sweet Today got so messed up.

You had me in the first paragraph, I was already getting ready to write an angry review :p

But yeah you're right, it's kind of the fault of whoever directed Sweet Today's live action. But good on Yoriko-sensei for looking past it and not being a bitter & toxic mentor \o/

Yoriko-sensei and Melt interactions are so funny tho

We only got a little tease of B Komachi this episode and a rare appearance from Ruby's friends at school. I had kind of forgotten how far Ruby and Mem get pushed into the background during this arc (not to mention manager mom of my heart Miyako).

We got to see Aqua's eyes opened up to the potential of theater this week with Akane being his theater sherpa. He is about to pay it forward to Abiko-sensei to help Goa's name. Akane's undercover look is perfect for the [email protected] fans out there (@[email protected]):

I am looking forward to getting this show back on the road and clearing up the miscommunications between Abiko-sensei and Goa. Also, if Kana isn't rehearsing, then she is just going to be pouting all the time, so she needs something to do.

Great pick for the thumbnail 😁

I wonder though if Aqua would have liked a normal theater play as much, because a play of that scale is probably less than 1% of all plays. Has that play given him enough taste for theater to watch normal ones ?

I always related to Abiko sensei the most and that annoyed me. Maybe I've been a bit harsh with hating on adaptations in the past, but I feel like I at least try to isolate which parts specifically I like and dislike. I'm not a fan that can never be pleased, at least I hope so.

I wonder how much of the manga they're gonna adapt. It's been a while since I read the earlier chapters so the sequence of events is a little fuzzy in my head.

I like the little detail that Abiko-sensei hasn't seen the last episode of sweet today
