Belgians prefer a hands off approach

It took me a while but boy that is a rough joke.

To add to the horror, I remember that the journalist that uncovered what happened in the Congo, started his inquiry because he noticed that the boats arriving in the Antwerp harbor were filled with rubber and all the boats leaving for Congo were filled with bullets. This was especially surprising because Belgian Africa started as a charitable endeavor funded with donations to ‘help civilize’ the continent.

Seems like people are finally waking up to what's happening.

It's not Belgium that wants sanctions, it's minister from a party that won 8% of votes on last elections. Belgium said nothing about sanctions, it's her that's calling up on the rest to make sanctions happen, which it will not. This is political games at play and Reuters should know better than to paddle that shit.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

BRUSSELS, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Belgium's deputy prime minister called on the Belgian government on Wednesday to adopt sanctions against Israel and investigate the bombings of hospitals and refugee camps in Gaza.

The rain of bombs is inhumane," deputy prime minister Petra De Sutter told Nieuwsblad newspaper.

The war has descended into the bloodiest episode in the generations-long Israel-Palestinian conflict.

De Sutter said the European Union should immediately suspend its association agreement with Israel, which aims at better economic and political cooperation.

At the same time, she said, Belgium should increase funding for the International Criminal Court in The Hague to investigate the bombings while cutting money flows to Hamas.

With the war now entering its second month, UN officials and G7 nations stepped up appeals for a humanitarian pause in the hostilities to help alleviate the suffering in Gaza, where buildings have been flattened and basic supplies are running out.

The original article contains 279 words, the summary contains 151 words. Saved 46%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

It's a start, I guess. They still need a reckoning for the "Congo free state." They still have statues to Leopold, for fucks sake.
