Biden's latest attempt to convince everyone he has what it takes to stay in the race will air at 6:30 PM Eastern / 3:30 PM Pacific.

More on where and how to watch here:

https://apnews.com/article/how-to-watch-biden-press-conference-a70590e7574fc9680229b6b6289f6a02

My expectation is that it will be on all the usual sources. CNN, MSNBC, etc. etc. with in depth coverage on the talking head shows later tonight.

Edit Conference is running ~~20+~~ 50+ minutes late after already being pushed back 1 hour from 5:30 to 6:30.

Not sure if that's good news or bad news.

Here we go! 58 minutes late, but he's on a roll talking about NATO.

Oh, snap! Reminding everyone that Article 5 has only been used once... 9/11.

Speech ran less than 10 minutes, but was a strong speech, now the questions.

Fumbles on the first answer, calling out "Vice President Trump". :(

Ended after almost an hour with one final question on "Vice President Trump" - Biden's answer "Listen to him." End conference.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it went!

Media is seething rn. They wanted Biden to break down and start sobbing on stage. He basically told them they were stupid for running a major story about a minor flub this afternoon.

They are mad that Biden turned their accusations into a boring press conference about NATO and his accomplishments.

This must be so weird for NATO officials in the room. The future of NATO hinges in him... and it really has nothing to do with the message he conveys, but how he says it.

Is it better for NATO if he flubs it, and gets another candidate in? Worse? shrug

I don't understand "get a better candidate" though really. The Dems should run a paperclip someone found at the back of the drawer and beat a racist, murdering, pedophile, rapist.

The problem is the news corps decided they are gonna do whatever they can to get Trump.

They could have literally the best candidate on earth and trump could fuck a an aborted fetus of a pregnant teen trans boy on loop for 24 hours on live tv, and CNN would still find something else to talk about

I mean Jon Fucking Stewart, someone who could have run against Trump and won, is right in line with the same fucking plan.

"Listen to him"

Why? Why the fuck would you say that, man?

I gave Biden a pass for the "Doing the goodest job" flub during the ABC News interview, because how do you answer that question on the spot without sounding like a nihilist? Obviously, he should have said that trust in the system is important and that checks and balances will still be a thing even if he doesn't win, but he opted for the feel-good sentiment of "At least we tried our best!".

But for this? The question was "Trump is already tweeting about you mixing up Vice President Harris with his name and citing it as evidence that you are not fit for office. How do you respond to that?" and he says listen to him. WTF man. Biden is his own worst enemy right now. He could have walked off stage and said nothing.

This is Biden's first press conference this year.

Adding context: This will be his first formal solo news conference since November 2023. Biden also holds the fewest news conferences since Ronald Reagan.https://apnews.com/live/election-biden-trump-campaign-updates-07-11-2024

We need more people to interrupt him. We need to see him stay focused and easily return to the topic at hand. Shows he has a clear mind .

I feel like this is going to be a nothing burger, but lets discuss the history of presidential news conferences:

https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/statistics/data/presidential-news-conferences

So I think the above statitstic is a bit misleading because it doesn't single out solo conferences.

His response to the geopolitical question is very well articulated.

First Time I hear about Hamas using Ballistic missiles. Boy they leveled up pretty quickly. maybe Biden should outsource missile manufacturing to them, US will be cutting billion of dollars in R&D.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

Maybe someone is wrestling Biden into stepping down backstage. Or he had a stroke.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

This is just sad.

Did he just get heckled or did he get distracted?
