Dunno if we'd seen it so thoroughly confirmed before that trailer that this is just modded/reskinned Stellaris. Which I'm still into!

Players can now pre-order either the base game or Digital Deluxe Edition, granting them access to bonuses like skins, ships, and special voiceover. Star Trek: Infinite takes players on an interstellar saga with its emergent gameplay and complex choices, as they face the powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
Players who pre-order Star Trek: Infinite will receive the following bonuses: – Star Trek: Lower Decks uniform options – The U.S.S. Cerritos, a science ship with special options for minor nations (Second Contact) – A Klingon advisor voice line, “Qapla”
The Digital Deluxe Edition (DDE) of the game includes a digital artbook, the game soundtrack, and an in-game music pack featuring iconic compositions from across Star Trek’s illustrious legacy.
Beginning decades before the Star Trek: The Next Generation era, Star Trek: Infinite grants players the power to shape the galaxy’s destiny as a faction of their choice. The immersive grand strategy game puts players in the captain’s chair to lead one of four unique Quadrant Powers: The United Federation of Planets, Romulan Star Empire, Cardassian Union, or Klingon Empire. You can tell it's the 2020s because they talk about the preorder DLC before telling you what the game is about.
That being said, it sounds interesting, I love 4x and economic submission games, and Trek of course.
Paradox, who only manage to properly finish a game after 150 paid DLC and tend to break the game after every such DLC...
Oof, this might be the thing that gets me to lose myself in a Paradox game.
It looks very much like stellaris, so if this appeals to you that might be up your alley as well. Can highly recommend, forgot to go to bed many times
I have never been so certain that I am the target demographic. This is my jam.
Star Trek: Infinite is built upon the core systems of Stellaris, leveraging the deep and complex system and making them its own. Aspects of these systems have been streamlined and simplified to better resonate with the Star Trek franchise.
Is this a mod then? I'm confused what this means
It's a standalone game built with the same engine.
