Human beings are desperate for human consciousness to be something special, beyond the limits of the material world, because it feels special and important to each of us. Quantum mechanics is what people with overactive imaginations who like to think they're scientifically minded use as a substitute for magic or the spiritual. Of course people will latch onto this baseless theory.

I've heard this a few times when I asked "And you believe that?" (to something ridiculous for miles away) - the answer to my question was "It's just quantum physics, it's nothing weird". "And what is quantum physics?" ...... silence .....
Human consciousness is a series of tubes
I mean, Roger Penrose is literally the most qualified, and his theory is quantum related, but not like how OPs video probably thinks it means.
We don't know how consciousness works, and we don't know how anesthesia works.
But anesthesia fucks with this quantum interaction in our brain and we lose consciousness. The numbers for when it happens doesn't line up neatly.
But there's likely something there to it
You should actually watch the video. There's a very large section where he goes over how in 21 or 22 whenever the original theory was proposed and experiments we're performed with no evidence found. He was originally going to put out a video talking about it but pointing out how unrealistic and unlikely it was. Instead he waited and only put out the recent video because there was some evidence pointing to the fact that there could be a connection. Anton does not tend to be sensationalist. For such subject matter he will usually be very clear when there isn't a lot of science backing things up. It's an interesting concept and now there is possible evidence that something could be going on. And that's what he says.
