Most of the time when people say they have an unpopular opinion, it turns out it's actually pretty popular.

Do you have some that's really unpopular and most likely will get you downvoted?

i would call this unpopular in the linux community, if it isnt, i apologize in advance

Linux, foss and their "fight for privacy" is not a fight, we are simply being tolerated by the companys who actually hold all the money and power, dont kid yourself into thinking you are making a difference

these companys have put up cages all around us so large we are effectively in one already and if they truly wanted to, they could whatever data from you they want

so stop making people feel bad if they dont use either or dont care about something like it

If you're getting upvotes in this thread you're a lemming that believes what everyone else does and you only allow yourself to consider socially acceptable ideas. Your beliefs are based on social proof, not introspection or critical thinking.

Another one: about 50% of the population are destined to be poor wagies and there's nothing you can do to help them.

The Internet is to open. ISPs should have blocking controls accessable to subscribers.

I hate motorbikes and big dogs. Motorbikes because the engine is too noisy. Big dogs because are dangerous (and kill people) and they bark too much.

Not all migrants are good for the country. Many come with views incompatble with western culture. Stuff like homophobia, transohobia, mysogyny. And they are often brought over as cheap labor, undercutting local labor.

The right to keep and bear arms is an inalienable right. We should be able to carry on all public lands, and other places open to the public.

Tattoos look bad like 90% of the time.

The government is not to be trusted.

In my country (Australia), they should increase the number of seats in government.

It hasn't been done since the early 80s when the population was half of what it is now. Your member therefore can be more active, a smaller electorate means less emails and letters to sift through, less stress from staff, and more representative of a progressive voting base.

But this gets so easily dismissed as increasing bureaucracy and big government.

Consciousness isn't real. You aren't actually having experiences even though your brain is telling you that you are.

I have a second one (and I say this as a 30-something who’s been vegetarian since middle school): if you judge it unethical to eat meat because you think the animals deserve life than you should also find items designed to look or feel like meat unacceptable.

You wouldn’t buy a pseudo human appendage at the meat market because it’s not just the reality that’s important it’s the entire idea that is abhorrent.

Mets have been and forever will be the best team in baseball.

There are very few actual atheists - if any. Most "atheists" I've encountered are just edgy non-practising Christians. And I bet that goes for other parts of the world with other religions, too.

I genuinely don't care for domestic animals. They're fundamentally property and beneath humanity to me. I think we should care about animal welfare for environmental reasons and as a stewardship for any non-person entity.
