Is there any explanation to why these people think that way? Is it really pettiness or do they have some kind of point (even if its a bad one)?

I just cannot wrap my head around being so sad and miserable.

I'm a dv outreach worker and I've done a lot or research. This man may be a dv abuser, he could also be an incel or similar. No decent man thinks this way and happily most men disagree.

Dv abusers are narcissists who have wildly unrealistic expectations for women, whilst simultaneously having no respect for them. No woman could possibly live up to his impossible expectations, and he kinda sees his partner as his property.

Incels are more complicated to work out. Best summary I can give is they're often riddled with self hatred and issues they fail to work on.
