A community dedicated to the universe of Warhammer 40k, a tabletop setting in the far, distant future.

This is a general community for 40k miniatures, art, lore discussion, and gameplay discussion.

Rules

  1. Keep it civil.
  2. No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
  3. Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
  4. No political or social cause agenda pushing.

I thought it would be time again for another community painting contest. With the holidays coming up, people are sure to be getting some new stuff, and hopefully have some free time to paint.

Since I'm posting this mid-December, I'll run the contest date out until the end of January 31st for submissions to give everybody time to get their entry ready.

The rules for this contest are going to be pretty relaxed. You can enter any 40k mini, either official or recognizable proxy. The contest is to find a mini to serve as the new community icon, so submit minis and put up photos in mind for looking good as an icon. You can submit multiple photos and angles.

Submissions will be comments inside this thread. You can post mini WIP threads or just for fun, but I'll only look at minis inside this thread as candidates.

Good luck and happy holidays to the community.

Armageddon, a world whose name is known across the Imperium. Armageddon, a world whose name has become a byword for war and destruction on a massive scale. Armageddon, where the fate of a thousand worlds hangs in the balance.

Codex Armageddon was published in 2000. The book gave the backstory for the 3rd War For Armageddon and contained special rules for the forces of the war- including the Ork Kult Of Speed, the Black Templar and Salamander space marines, and the Steel Legion imperial guard.

I've seen a bit of it around but know nothing about it. I do love large world building with extensive story lines (I really enjoyed the entire Dune series, even the prequels his son wrote). So if I wanted to start reading WH books, where should I start?

Individual photos with a better camera here: https://imgur.com/a/gYE7XH5

I painted these mostly with speed paints (and the equivalents from other companies). They came together quite quickly and I had fun with them, which is rather the goal of hobbies, isn't it?

PS5 player so a little behind. My god I thought Mechanicus had the top tier 40k game soundtrack but when that PIPE ORGAN ELECTRO HOUSE hits I am SO INTO IT. My first mission was as Ogryn and I swear his boomstick lines up so well with the beat it turned into a rhythm game.

Apply headphone, turn other volumes down, and MASSACRE THE ENEMIES OF THE GOD EMPEROR TO A FILTHY HOUSE BEAT LIKE YOU DESERVE

That is all thanks for coming to my Ted talk

As someone new to the universe (I jumped into this universe this year and I read everything I humanly can from the Black Library), I found strange that a lot of people who comments on the reveal that Titus is fearless since a child just stop there and don't connect with what has been said at the beginning of the episode.

The Imperium control its army with a faith built on fear. Because Titus is fearless, it implies that he has no faith for the Imperium (at least not one imposed to him by the Imperium). Based on the fact he spent centuries being torture by the inquisition we can assume he is loyal to the Imperium.

But there are 2 differences between Loyalty and Faith:

  • the fact that a Loyal soldier can't be control
  • Loyalty is toward a nation (the Imperium) while Faith is toward a religious figure (here the Emperor of Mankind).

That's why everyone around Titus is afraid of him joigning the chaos. But from what we know Titus is too loyal to betray the Imperium (and is resistance to the chaos may makes him immune to god corruption). But doesn't it put him on a lot of historical figure who betrays there leader when they think they betray the nation? Roman and medieval histories has a lot of those historical figure. Brutus killing Cesar is the most known of all.

Of course Titus will never try to kill the Emperor of Manking but right now the real leader of the Imperium is Titus own primarch: Guilliman who serves as the Regent. Titus is not strong enough to kill a primarch but an assassination attempt would be a big deal on its own (a second Horus Heresy but this time without god corruption).

All this emphasis during all this years on how Titus is unique among the Spaces Marines, to the point where the first mainstream movie/tv show is just about that, I just can't imagine they will do nothing about it.

I am probably wrong, I'm too new to the universe, to really judge my own analysis. That's why I'm writing it here hoping to learn a lot more about that specific subject of the lore (the lore is so big now, it's hard to know what to read to analyze the probability of a theory).
