My family currently uses life360(iOS and android). But I hate their privacy policy. I'm looking for an alternative. The thing that's difficult is I can't find one that's opt in to each other. Like my parents are split so they dont want to share with each other but the rest of us do. Prefer selfhosted but anything is better that where we are at. Thanks!!

Which one is recommended? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Are there better alternatives?

Hello everyone,

I have made an account in a website which was liberland.org long ago when I was underage but now I cannot delete it, I cannot even disable it or even modify my credentials.

I have found an email in their privacy policy but they do not respond to it and it has been a week already. I didn't find any information at all that could help online

PS: The account was made around 6 years ago or more, and second note is that I do not live in an European country for GDPR nor in USA for CCPA to benefit from privacy rights

Hello everyone! Are there any benefits of hosting your own XMPP server, considering I always use end-to-end encryption in all of my chats?

I've been using Brave for the past three or so years but I do know that Linux/privacy enthusiasts tend to swear by Firefox. Wanted to get people's thoughts on this topic to see if I should be making a potential switch. Thanks!

I was using DuckDuckGo for some time, but heard that there are better alternatives. I'm confused, because DDG is used by default in TOR browser, and other privacy respecting browsers (ex. Librewolf). Can you guys recommend any other search engine, and tell me why u recommend it?

Or, is DDG enough?

We all know the record of bad practices that Meta has done against user's privacy. Regardless of that, Instagram still is one of the largest social media in the world. This makes it imposible to not have to check Instagram sometimes, but it can be hard to use Instagram when the website is filled with sign-up banners everywhere, is tracking all your activity and wants you to install the official app. This is where Proxigram comes in.

There are other Instagram viewers out there, but some of them can be a little tricky to use since most of them have ads, need JavaScript or are full of captchas and trackers. Proxigram does the job for you and goes to these services, parses the data, and gives it back to you.

Using an instance of Proxigram, you can browse Instagram without JavaScript while retaining your privacy with all the requests going through the server. The client never talks to Instagram or other service providers (unless it is specified).

I've been looking for an alternative to Google Photos. My question is, because I've created a free account. How good is ente.io?

I read a bit about using a different DNS for Privacy and I think the best one should be quad9? Or is there anything better except self hosting a DNS?

I want to have different alt accounts for YouTube (google), and other sites. What's the best way to do this?

Ironically, a large number of privacy minded individuals are using Google Pixels flashed with custom roms (Calyx, Graphene, Lineage, etc)

If not designed specifically for privacy, these Android forks are at the very least not stock Android, and stripped of many anti-privacy features.

This can be accomplished due to the Pixel's (mostly) unique attribute - a bootloader that can be unlocked and relocked.

I don't know why Google have allowed their bootloaders this freedom, but I can't imagine that a company with a reputation for killing anything they touch would allow it to continue for much longer.

If/when the day comes that the Pixel is fully locked down, what options are there for privacy enthusiasts to continue using a smartphone, an inherently unprivate device?

Does anyone know of development going into looking at how to unlock bootloaders on any device, opening the door for custom rom flashing to continue?

Are the pinephones, fairphones, etc going to have to ramp up production?

Anything going on in the iphone department allowing for detachment from the Apple ecosystem?

What happens next, really?
