If people could stop centering their entire lives around a mediocre piece of entertainment and letting themselves being spoonfed art in the form of capitalist "Franchises", maybe people like Rowling wouldnt get this much undeserved attention.

The guy is German, and the German language traditionally uses generic masculine pronouns, although that has become a big political issue in the past years. Some new gender-neutral forms have developed, but some of them have even been banned by the "center"-right-wing clowns in two state governments, and it's all a bit of a mess. The guy probably thoght "they" in English is a similarly experimental concept, and while it's still dumb and he should just try to be as inclusive as possible, it's probably not a matter of him purposefully excluding women from the documentation.
The best part is the guy telling his viewers to not be creative with their music but make exactly what people want to hear. Really shows how people are just bullshitting art, and the bullshit generator is exactly the right tool for that.
Are people here reading the whole mastodon thread?
it is 200% okay to bully them into submission
Sounds rather toxic, and also counterproductive.
I read it like russia sabotaged the PMs own arson attempt
Garbage take. Just fill it into a glass jar at home. Nobody cares about the 0.03g of flour lost leaking out during transport.
Is there any science behind this or is it just some guy pulling stuff out of his ass that he feels people can relate to?
"Arbitrary scale at which water freezes" is such an annoyingly dumb representation of the Fahrenheit scale, that even as a European I feel the need to defend it.
Maybe I wasn't clear, I don't think calling out Rowling's shitty views is part of the problem. What I was trying to point at was that fandoms are just a means of marketing and people are too uncritical about how capitalism interferes with art. People are getting steered towards "investing" time and attention into something that isn't really worth it, and the author, unable to follow up the success because she really isn't that talented, instead clamps on the attention by putting out edgy political statements.
